I'm not sure when you wrote this, but Tamarindo in 2021 is still hot and humid, however the prices of everything has skyrocketed. The cheapest I could find for a private bath with a kitchen for a month as $1100. We didn't rent a car for the $500 per month. Taxis are about $1 per mile. Food at the grocery stores are comparable to the U.S. Restaurants seem to come in about say $9 for waffles at Waffle Monkey, or lunch for $12-18 and dinner $20 plus all this is per person without drinks. The beach is 1.5 miles long and does not go on forever and is very crowded, way to crowded to safely surf for beginners on most days in the summer months. The activities are many but you will pay, say to see a sloth $125. It is a great vacation spot for a short time IF you have the money to burn.
