I like that you talked about how it is helpful to ensure that there is insurance coverage in the facility wherever you store your items. I guess I need to look for a storage facility that will offer that as well, so I can have the assurance that my belongings will be protected. It will take about two to three months for the property renovation to finish which is why I need a place where to put my things for quite a while.

We store our stuff in our homes while we travel. We have a home base that we return to every few months and we store our things there. This allows us to keep our things safe and sound while we’re away and makes it easy to pick up where we left off when we return.

In reply to Karen. Lots of people do that with their AirBnB property rentals. We've done it with a garage twice now. Danger is getting the proper insurance for it and of course there's always a risk for theft or fire. There's also the danger of needing something in there earlier than expected and not having access to it. Definitely a cheap way to go if you can do it though.
