Hi, Micki,

I always wear a cheap "wedding band look-a-alike" on my left ring finger, and that has worked most of the time as a deterrent from unwanted advances.

Along those lines, I always reference my (non-existent) boyfriend/husband waiting for me/arriving any moment - to cut conversations that make me uncomfortable in any way.

Finally, I always check with the front desk, before I venture out for the first time alone...as to the safety of the surrounding neighborhood. If I am in a foreign country, I ask the clerk to write down the name and address of the hotel/hostel in case I get lost or to give to a taxi driver, if need be. My best advice...if you feel like something/someone/some place is not right, trust your gut and get out of there.

Hi Micki,

This is something amazing. Many a times we struggle a lot with the packing and tend to pack many unwanted things. I think it is wise not to pack something which we have not worn in last one year. My mantra is - exclude everything which you are not sure about.
Staying safe is the most important factor while travelling alone. Loved all your safety tips. Thank you so much for sharing them here. Take care and have a great day, everyday :)
