Coolife Luggage Review: Is This Affordable 3 Piece Set Worth It?

Travel is expensive right now. It’s sad but true.

Flights, hotels, gas, food, airport snacks, checked bag fees, it all adds up fast. So when a luggage set comes in at a genuinely accessible price point and still has the features most travelers are looking for, it’s worth taking a closer look.

We’ve tested and used plenty of higher-end luggage over the years, but not everyone needs to spend luxury luggage money. Sometimes you just need a practical suitcase set that rolls smoothly, looks good, gives you enough room for a trip, and doesn’t cost as much as the vacation itself.

That’s where this Coolife 3 piece luggage set caught our attention.

Coolife sent us their 20 inch, 24 inch, and 28 inch hardshell luggage set to review. We received the set recently, so this is a hands-on first look based on unboxing it, inspecting the pieces, checking the wheels, handles, zippers, interior space, and doing a quick packing test at home.

We’ll update this review once we’ve had a chance to use the set on a full trip.

What’s Included In The Coolife 3 Piece Luggage Set?

The set we received includes three hardshell spinner suitcases:

  • 20 inch carry-on suitcase
  • 24 inch medium checked suitcase
  • 28 inch large checked suitcase

That size range is probably one of the biggest reasons a set like this makes sense.

The 20 inch case is the one you’d reach for on a weekend trip, short flight, or quick getaway. The 24 inch suitcase gives you more room for a longer vacation without feeling huge. The 28 inch suitcase is the big one, useful for longer trips, road trips, cruises, college moves, or those times when you’re packing bulkier clothes.

And yes, the pieces nest inside each other for storage, which is helpful if you don’t want three suitcases taking over a closet.

Why We’re Looking At Luggage A Little Differently Now

We’re in a different travel stage than we were a decade ago.

Our youngest has just graduated high school, our son is in college, and we’re starting to look at travel a little differently again. We’re not packing diapers, car seats, tiny shoes, and snack cups anymore. We’re packing for full-sized people with full-sized clothes and very real opinions about what they want to bring.

So while we still travel as a family, it’s different now.

A three-piece luggage set can actually make a lot of sense in this stage. One person can take the carry-on for a quick trip. Someone else can use the medium case for a week away. The largest suitcase is there when you need more room, whether that’s for a longer vacation, moving a kid into college, or packing for a road trip where space matters more than airline restrictions.

It’s less about family travel with little ones and more about having flexible luggage for a household where different people need different bags at different times.

First Impressions Of The Coolife Luggage Set

The first thing I noticed is that the set looks good.

It has a clean, modern hardshell design, and all three pieces match nicely. If you’re replacing a random collection of mismatched suitcases, this immediately feels more pulled together.

The second thing I noticed was how lightweight it felt.

Honestly, I love that. I’m so tired of luggage that feels like it already weighs half your airline weight limit before you even put a single pair of jeans inside. Lightweight luggage makes such a difference, especially if you’re packing for longer trips, sharing luggage between family members, or trying to avoid overweight bag fees.

The set also has the features most people expect by now:

  • Spinner wheels on all three suitcases
  • Telescoping handles
  • Hardshell exterior
  • Interior divider
  • Packing straps
  • Multiple suitcase sizes
  • Nesting storage
  • Lots of color options

The spinner wheels are probably one of the biggest practical wins here. Once you’ve used luggage that rolls easily, it’s hard to go back to dragging a suitcase behind you through an airport or hotel hallway.

All three pieces rolled easily around our entrance and on the floor at home. I’d still want to test them through an airport, across sidewalks, and over rougher surfaces before saying much more, but for a first look, the wheels are doing what they’re supposed to do.

The handles pull up as expected, the zippers worked smoothly in our first inspection, and the interior setup is simple and functional.

The Colour Choices Are Actually Fun

One thing I really like about this Coolife set is that it comes in a lot of colour choices.

The set we received is Apricot Black, and I really like the look of it. It’s neutral enough that it still feels practical, but the contrast trim makes it much easier to spot on the luggage carousel than a plain black suitcase.

That matters more than people think. If you’ve ever stood at baggage claim watching 47 nearly identical black suitcases go by, you know exactly what I mean.

The available colours include:

  • Teal
  • Apricot
  • Navy
  • Apricot White
  • Blue
  • Black
  • Dark Green
  • Champagne
  • Orange
  • Red
  • Pink
  • White
  • Yellow

I always appreciate when luggage comes in colours that are actually useful. Black is classic, of course, but brighter colours or contrast trim can make a suitcase much easier to recognize quickly, especially at a busy airport.

This Is Affordable Luggage, And That’s The Point

I think the most honest way to talk about this set is this:

The Coolife 3 piece set feels like affordable, functional luggage for value-conscious travelers.

That’s not a bad thing. In fact, that’s the whole appeal.

This is not the luggage angle I’d take if you’re shopping for ultra-premium suitcases you expect to drag through airports every month for the next decade. If you’re a very frequent flyer, a heavy business traveler, or someone who wants top-tier materials and long-term durability above all else, you may want to compare it with higher-end options.

But that’s not everyone.

A lot of people travel a few times a year. They want luggage that looks decent, rolls properly, has enough packing space, and doesn’t blow the travel budget before the trip even starts.

For those people, this set makes a lot more sense.

It’s affordable. It’s practical. It has the basic features most travelers actually use. And if you can get it during a good sale, the value proposition gets a lot more interesting.

A Quick Packing Test

We did a quick packing test at home to get a feel for the interior space.

The inside is straightforward, with one side that can be secured with straps and another side with a divider panel. That’s exactly what I’d expect in a hardshell suitcase at this price point, and it’s useful for keeping things from shifting around too much. Lots of room for packing cubes and everything else you need.

The 20 inch carry-on is best suited for short trips, weekend packing, or lighter travelers. The 24 inch case is probably the most versatile of the three for most people. The 28 inch suitcase gives you the most room, but of course, the larger the suitcase, the easier it is to overpack.

And with checked bag fees and weight limits, that’s something to keep in mind. A big suitcase can be wonderfully convenient, but it can also get heavy fast.

That’s another reason I appreciate that these suitcases feel lightweight before packing. If you’re trying to stay under an airline weight limit, starting with lighter luggage gives you a little more breathing room.

What We Like So Far

For the price, there’s quite a bit to like about this Coolife luggage set.

The biggest win is that you get three usable suitcase sizes in one matching set. That makes it flexible for different types of travel, whether you’re heading out for a weekend, taking a longer vacation, sending a college student off with extra stuff, or packing for a family road trip.

I also like that all three suitcases have spinner wheels. That’s one of those features that makes a real difference in how luggage feels to use, especially when you’re managing more than one bag.

The hardshell design gives the set a clean, modern look. It also makes the suitcases easy to wipe down, which is handy because luggage tends to get scuffed and dirty fast once it hits airports, car trunks, hotels, and cruise terminals.

The lightweight feel is another major plus. Nobody wants to start a trip with a suitcase that already feels heavy before it’s packed.

The colour choices are also a nice bonus. I like luggage that’s easy to identify, and the Apricot Black set has enough contrast to stand out without feeling loud.

The nesting design is another practical plus. Three suitcases sound like a lot until you realize they can fit inside each other when they’re not being used.

And honestly, I just appreciate that this set doesn’t feel wildly out of reach price-wise. Travel gear can get expensive quickly, and not everyone wants to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on luggage.

What To Keep In Mind

There are a few things I’d keep in mind before buying.

First, this is a first-look review. We’ve inspected the set, rolled it around, opened and closed it, checked the features, and done a quick packing test, but we haven’t taken it through a full airport travel day yet.

Second, hardshell luggage can scuff. That’s true at many price points, but it’s worth mentioning. If you check luggage often, expect marks and wear over time.

Third, this is value-focused luggage. That’s the point. I wouldn’t buy this expecting the same materials, feel, or long-term durability as a premium suitcase that costs several times more.

Fourth, always check airline size rules, especially for carry-on luggage. The 20 inch piece is intended as a carry-on size, but airline rules vary, and they can be especially strict on smaller planes, international routes, and budget carriers.

Who This Coolife Set Makes The Most Sense For

I think this Coolife 3 piece luggage set is best suited for:

  • Occasional travelers
  • Couples who want a matching set
  • Families with older kids or young adults
  • College students
  • Road trippers
  • Cruise travelers
  • People replacing old mismatched luggage
  • Anyone who wants a full luggage set without paying premium prices

It’s also a practical option if your household has different travel needs. One person might need a carry-on for a quick trip, while someone else needs a larger checked bag for a longer vacation.

That flexibility is really the point of a three-piece set.

Who Might Want To Skip It?

If you travel constantly, check bags every month, or want luggage that feels premium in absolutely every detail, this may not be the best fit.

I’d also skip it if you’re looking for luggage you expect to use heavily for decades. There are higher-end brands built more specifically for that kind of long-term, high-mileage travel.

But if you’re looking for an affordable, good-looking, functional luggage set for normal trips, occasional flights, road trips, and vacations, this is a reasonable set to consider.

Is A 3 Piece Luggage Set Still Worth Buying?

I think it can be, especially for households.

A single suitcase is fine if you always travel the same way. But real life isn’t always that tidy. Sometimes you need a carry-on. Sometimes you need a medium checked bag. Sometimes you need the biggest suitcase because you’re packing for a longer trip, bringing gear, or hauling stuff back home.

A three piece set gives you options.

It’s also nice when the pieces match, nest together for when not in use (or if you’re the type of person that likes to completely unpack when you stay somewhere and space is a premium), and cover different trip lengths. That’s especially useful if you’re buying luggage for more than one person or trying to replace a pile of older bags.

Final Thoughts On The Coolife 3 Piece Luggage Set

The Coolife 3 piece luggage set isn’t trying to be luxury luggage, and it doesn’t need to be.

Its strength is that it offers an affordable, good-looking, functional suitcase set with the features most occasional travelers actually use. You get three sizes, spinner wheels, a clean hardshell design, interior organization, nesting storage, lots of colour choices, and a lightweight feel that’s genuinely appreciated.

Based on our first hands-on look, I think it’s a solid option for travelers who want good value and practical features without paying premium luggage prices.

If you’re shopping for a full luggage set for vacations, road trips, college moves, cruises, or occasional flights, this Coolife set is worth a look, especially if you can catch it on sale.

We’ll update this review once we’ve had a chance to use the set on a full trip.
