I think the best experience is when you live with the Natives of the Land therefore learning the history of what you see and experience. I have no complaints from the discomforts of the Asian lifestyle. Of course, it is not like America which is the reason i left America(full of high sprung stress). One cannot replace Love and adventurous experiences of a different atmosphere, money comes and goes, but the human relationship is super awesome to me.

Oh, i must say eye certainly enjoy the animal kingdom here as well, along with the exotic vegetation of the land. It is early morning time now and i am getting ready for breakfast on Chao Phraya River !!! Life is for the Living, not to sit at home and complain; discriminate; live vicariously through the filtered television on your sofa. I read your message and wanted to help you, because I have been in Siem Reap a lot of times. The Tara Angkor hotel is a beautiful hotel and is ideally and conveniently located, Tara Angkor Hotel is situated only 6 km from the Angkor Wat Temples, 15 min drive from the Siem Reap International Airport, a few minutes stroll to the Angkor National Museum and a short ride to the city town center with an array of Cambodian souvenirs, shopping and culture. They have a few promotions that you can make use of if you haven’t booked already: Last minute bookings, summer sales, early bird promotion or Angkor temptations. Of course there are a lot more, but have a look at their website. It is not that far to the Angkor temples that I would advise you to see for sure.

Thank you for your response. The 3 day pass is a very good tip. For the transportation part I will inform my friends, who are going with me. Are there any different attractions than the temples itself? Can you recommend a few fancy restaurants? I want to celebrate my birthday then.

It’s been a few years since we’ve been to Cambodia Emma so not sure any of our hotel recommendations would still be viable. I know there’s a lot of newer hotels as well so you’re better off trusting Tripadvisor or booking.com. From those reviews it looks a lot nicer than any place we stayed at while we toured the ruins!

Grab yourself a 3 day pass and find yourself a decent tuk tuk driver to take you to the farther ruins and for a drive in some of the outlying villages. If you’re up for it consider renting a bike and checking out Angkor Wat on your own. There’s a lot to see and do so a lot depends on your time and budget. A few temples I would strongly suggest you check out besides Angkor Wat itself are Bayon Temple, Angkor Thom and of course Ta Prohm just to see the amazing tree. The Banteay Srei temple is farther out of Siem Reap but has a very different feel than a lot of the others.

Angkor was an amazing place. We spent three days wandering around some of the more remote ruins. We were the only people at some of them (maybe the only people crazy enough to go visit in the heat of the afternoon). Closest I may ever get to feeling like Indiana Jones…
