El Fogón is great – word’s out, and it’s absolutely packed most of the time, but I really think it’s more fun that way! I think that El Fogón’s food is better, but we found that La Patrona del Playa was more affordable. Try them both and let us know what you think!

I was never in Playa before it really took off. Like it a lot though. It has a really nice vibe; lots of different cultures and people mixing.

It still amazes me how much this place has changed over the years…total explosion. I used to spend nearly every weekend in PDC when I lived in Cancun over 10 years ago. My roommate and I used to drive down, rent a cheap room and party the weekends away; then during the day we would take the ferry over to Cozumel, rent scooters, head to the quite backside of the island, hit a beach bar, get lunch and swim all day. I’ll have to checkout some of these places mentioned next time back.
